First of all – please remember, this is all optional!  Lots of people find race day more fun if there are friendly faces out there, but you can be as involved or not as works for you.  If your nerves prefer to be left alone, please consider joining the FB group & messenger group & following without chatting – if nothing else it means that other clubbies will be on the lookout & might get some action shots of you! But none of this is compulsory.
Start of year
Coach Anthony has used his magic ball to set the races that count towards the Triathlon of the Year (TOTY) award.  These are races that lots of clubbies normally go to.  Each TOTY race is in Facebook as an event (and where we get organised in Stack App too)
A month of so before the race
If you’re interested / when you sign up for a race please respond as “going” to that Facebook app.  That gets you on the radar as attending – there are usually lots of random questions about accommodation, travel etc which you’ve now got an audience to ask or an opportunity to answer.
If you are planning on doing a race that isn’t a TOTY race or hasn’t got an event set up PLEASE do post about it – you might be surprised & find other clubbies going.  And for future years, Coach Anthony will be able to include it in his chicken-bone based process to select future TOTY races
A week or so before the race
As we get closer to race day, there’s usually a messenger group set up for anyone who has flagged that they’re going, to coordinate stuff like travel, eating out & if you’ve forgotten anything urgent and need help or advice.
The day before or so, there’s usually a shout out on the Facebook page, asking for race numbers so that other clubbies can follow you remotely. Please pop your race number in – this is the absolute best way to create FOMO in all the people not racing and means that clubbies can track you!
Race Day
On race day the messenger chat gives a chance to meet up before & after the race & also for cheer squad/clubbies family to stay in touch & to share photos.
And after each race, we try & set up a photo album in Facebook to gather photos for bragging rights at the end of season event in July.  Clubbies are encouraged to tag the club in facebook & IG posts (to make it easy for Boomers like me to repost without any technical competence in “The Social Medias”…. ) It’s also a good way of passing along photos of other clubbies so they’ve got a record of their raceday.
